First Contact Physiotherapist (In-house)

First Contact Physiotherapy (FCP) service is run from the practice where patients with musculoskeletal problems such as back or shoulder pain can be seen by a Physiotherapist, without necessarily needing to see a GP first.

During your consultation a Physiotherapist will take a full history of your condition and perform a brief assessment in order to try and help diagnose the cause of your pain. Following this they will help advise on whether further treatment is required or whether the condition can be managed with appropriate exercise interventions or lifestyle changes. The appointments tend to be shorter than more traditional Physiotherapy treatment sessions and do not involve any treatments such as massage or manipulation. Instead, the focus is on early assessment, diagnosis and advice on managing your condition, referring on for further Physiotherapy treatment if this is felt to be needed.

In our FCP clinics our Physiotherapist can help with musculoskeletal issues such as back, neck and joint pain by:

  • assessing and helping diagnose the cause of your symptoms.
  • giving expert advice on how best to manage your conditions
  • referring you onto specialist services for further treatment/investigation if necessary.
  • Signposting you back to your GP if further medical management/opinion is needed.

Please contact the practice to book an appointment on 01443 688880.
